PETALS AND FLAMES

A collection of poems and short stories.

You forget that I am not the gentle flower

You make me out to be

But a

Wildfire

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry that I tear you down

In order to lift myself up

Step on your back to let myself see more of the world.

Your not a pedastal, you're a human

Why do I use people and leave when its convenient?

Get a kick out of setting fires

I can't cool down?

This is my sincere apology to you

For not being the person

I told you I was.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When the world feels cold and bitter

And your chest feels hollowed out

Your bones stuck to the couch like remnants of those

Laid down at the grave

Your heart refuses to feel any longer

And it screams at you like the whistle of a kettle

There are a dozen voices in my head,

Telling me the rules in order to guide my life.

My mouth, heavy, full of water

Pulling me down,

To the bottom

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You tell me one day you'll have to leave

I know this is a fact, time and time again I've seen people go

And never some back

But this time is different

You've given me the love of a whole village

And the strength of one thousand men.

The gentleness of soft flower petals,

And the knowledge to be one.

I'm whole and you never made me feel like I was missing.

If you go,

I know it won't be by choice

But I want you to stay anyways.

Stay,

Because if you float away

I'll be lost forever.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Look at you, getting someone else's scraps

A lonely, starving dog in the face of love

Searching, looking for a master

One who won't

HIT as hard as the last

You don't realize how many bruises are under your fur

Because once they heal, its like they were never there

Crawling on all fours,

Begging for more

A craving someone's willing to feed

A bone is all you ask

But no one seems to listen

They never seem to give you

What you've wanted all your life

If only I could end your eternal search
