THE GIRL IS GONE

A poem.
The girl is gone
You killed her
You see
She tried to stay a float
She tried to do what you wanted
But it only made her choke
I heard her gasp for air
Calling out but no one listened
They went about their day
With their thin paper faces
You killed her you see
Dragged her down into your darkness
Suffocated her with unending wants and expectations
She wanted to love
And she wanted to dream
But the world was too cruel
And so were you.
The girl is gone.
Now she is me.
