A children's novel.

In a faraway land, in the village of Yore;

There lived a great family full of warriors and risk takers.

They were as strong as they were loving,

They also had four children.

Jackie was the youngest and smallest of them all.

Her eyes were as blue as the sea and her hair almost matched her in size

They were looked up to for their strength and bravery,

Because of this they were asked to protect everyone in the village.

The villagers loved almost all the creatures in the land,

But the one creature they couldn’t stand was…

GIANTS!

For years and years, the giants lived in the forests and filled the villagers with fear.

Giants were tall, too tall that they touched the sky,

And giants were smelly, too smelly that they were stinker than old socks,

And giants were mean, too mean that they’d laughed right in your face,

And they only cared about themselves!

But one day, when the warriors were called to protect the castle they had to pass the forest.

This made the heroes nervous but they bravely went forward.

Jackie was happy she finally had the chance to explore,

But her family told her “you can’t come with us, you must stay here where it’s safe.”

Then they began their journey.

Jackie tried her hardest to listen but in the end she didn’t stay.

Meanwhile, across the land within the forest;

In the darkest and greenest parts of the Earth was where the Giants lived,

With their hairy green fur, their large black eyes and their loud booming voices.

Giants were gentle monsters that loved nature.

They loved the water and they loved the sky,

They loved the trees and they loved each other.

The giants loved almost all the creatures in the land,

But the one creature they couldn’t stand was…

HUMANS!

Humans were tiny, so tiny they were like ants,

And they were greedy, so greedy that they would take anything they wanted,

And they always smelled like soap, soap that would hurt their noses,

And they only cared about themselves!

The Giants were big, that much was true but there was one giant who was the smallest of them all

Hugh was hairy and he could be scary,

But all he ever wanted was to be a hero.

One day Hugh was walking through the forest.

He heard a, “crack, crack, crack” coming from a nearby tree

Then he noticed a tiny girl that was about to fall,

He swooped in and caught her in his hand.

She didn’t looked scared. She looked happy?

“Thank you for saving me, I’m Jackie” she said;

Hugh didn’t think she was mean,

Or greedy,

Or selfish.

She just looked tiny, even for a human.

“I’m Hugh” he smiled back,

And though he was tall

He was nice,

And he was funny,

He was just big and hairy.

The two walked through the forest

Smiling the biggest of smiles,

While laughing the whole way through.

Halfway through their journey, Jackie got tired so the Giant put her on his shoulder,

As they got closer to the castle she saw the villagers below.

When Jackie’s family saw them they said,

“Jackie get down! Leave us alone GIANT!” her family yelled.

But Jackie stood up to her family.

She said “Giants are not what you think they are,

They are not mean,

And they care!

They care about me, because Hugh saved when I was about to fall from a tree.”

Everyone looked at the tall, hairy giant

Who was could touch the sky,

And who held Jackie with care.

They saw the look on Jackie and Hugh’s faces,

And they knew they were friends.

Then the villagers thought that maybe they were wrong about the giants.

The long, long fight between the Giants and the humans came to an end,

With the power of friendship.

Friends who were different in every way,

Friends who were warriors and heroes.

Not because they fought,

But because they loved.
